Initially patient can go to any physician and if they feel that the patient needs to seek help from any hospital or specified organization for any specific disease they refer the patient to that organization by issuing a referral slip. Currently Korea have over 91600 physicians practicing there with five types of healthcare organization s, including tertiary care hospital, hospital, general hospital, clinic and pharmacy.

In Korea Republic the clinics of the doctors and most of the hospitals are in private sector or privately owned apart from a few numbers of community healthcare organizations.
