It is one (1) year since the strategic plan was implemented and, as the Operations Manager, you are reviewing the performance of the business against the performance indicators identified in the plan.

Assume that the performance indicators identified in the strategic plan are as follows:

  • A 20% increase in total sales revenue.
  • International market identified, and exporting commenced. Sales to international markets to comprise 20% of total income.
  • Suitable alliance for marketing identified and 10% increase in sales attributed to alliance marketing.
  • Identify new products through review of competitors’ web sites.

Data and comments from staff after 12 months from implementation of the strategic plan show:

  • Sales have increased from $550,000 to $800,000
  • Product now selling in Hong Kong and Singapore. Total international sales identified as $70,000.
  • No progress on alliance marketing as yet. No suitable partner identified.
  • No ideas for new products.

Complete the following activities:

  1. Write a report for management.

The report should address:

  1. Analyse and report on the data provided.
  2. Comment on whether performance indicators have been achieved.
  3. Develop recommendations for the year ahead based on your evaluation as above, as well as required changes to the strategic plan.
  4. As you have also been asked to evaluate the strategic planning process, research best practice strategic planning processes and report on whether the organisation achieved this with the first strategic plan development and what could be improved.

The strategic plan of business depends on the goal and objective of the business. in business strategic plan should develop strategic alliance with major companies who use herbs and spices and focus R&D on specific product safety. develop new product having proof of safety for both mainstream and market. According to data 20% increase in sales revenue as per information and data provided sales increased from $ 550000 to $800000 which shows approximately 45% increase in sales revenue.

Also, as per strategy company wants to go international. target is 20% of sale income should comprise of international income and there should be development of new products to meet competition in market.

As per information given and achievement of performance indicator are concerned it’s only the first target of increase in sales revenues as been achieved and when it comes to other indicators company really need to review their strategies becomes results didn’t work out. positive in terms of achieving goals in the statement it’s given that company had a target that20% of revenue should be from sales made overseas.

Undouble company is now selling to Hong Kong and making sales of around 70000 from them but it’s just around 8% of sale revenue which is really very low as compared to set target by company in their strategy.

Adding more to it nothing has been done in terms of developing new product to meet demands of growing competition.

This shows company policies are not competitive at all which is negative aspect for all the stake holders of company also nothing has been done for strategy of alliance market no partner found which is another of side of strategy made by company.

In the year to come company should review their strategy an should make their plans to go global and exploit international market and try to achieve target sales from overseas. they should setup with companies overseas or going online can be a great asset for company also they should try to develop new product. Product differentiation and product development should be their aim so that they can survive in competition they need to alter their product according to demands of market if they really want to exist, they can do market search and survey their customer to know the changes. also, if they search on strategy of their competitor, this can help them to as far as alliances market is concerned I feel company should focus on the above mention stuff.

Once they can achieve these goals surely, they will approach by many good companies to be their alliance partner.
