The purpose of this report is to identify various elements which are required to be concerned about at the time of designing a new accommodation hall for the students. There are few factors that are required to be taken care of at the time of planning and designing so that no loopholes exist in the designing process. The report will also help in offering various recommendations by which there can be effective arrangement of the rooms in the accommodation hall. These recommendations will help in offering a relaxing and comfortable living environment to the students.

Elements that should be taken into account

Following are the various elements or the factorswhichare necessary to be considered or taken in account at the time of designing a new accommodation hall for the student:

Number of Students & number of rooms

The first element which is required to be considered is the number of students which demands for accommodation. The demand can be analysed by various factors such as the number of students who are from various other regions. The students prefer taking the accommodation facilities which are available in universities rather than the outside facilities. Thus, it is required that the accommodation hall must be created by keeping all these things in mind. It is essential that the number of rooms in an accommodation hall must be created according to the requirement so that there is no shortage of rooms for the student (Petruzzellis, D'Uggento and Romanazzi, 2006).

Maintenance and facilities

It is also essential that there must be appropriate emphasis on the facilities which are to be offered to the students in the rooms and adequate maintenance should be there such as appropriate lightings, cleanliness, hygiene, sufficient space, etc.

Number of beds

The next element to be considering is the number of beds that to be created in each room of the accommodation hall. There must be two types of rooms such as a two bed and a three bed room. This will help the students in choosing the most suitable room for them as per their convenience (Hea, 2015).

Student with disabilities

It is one of the most concerned elements in the development of the accommodation hall. There must also be separate rooms for the students who are suffering from disabilities. There must be sufficient number of rooms and beds for them in the accommodation hall (Thurlow, et al., 2005). The different facilities which can be offered to them are that there must be slope way for them from where they can easily come and go. Another point while designing the accommodation hall is that the rooms which are for the disable people must be near to the entrance gate as well as the mess so that it is comfortable for them to visit these places without much difficulty (Hill, 1996).

International students

There are several international studentstoo that take come at overseas regions for further study. In such cases they need a place to accommodate near by the institute. Therefore, it is also required that there must be rooms for those international students so that they can feel comfortable. Usually student from various other nations are not able to adjust frequently because of various reasons. Therefore, at the time of designing the accommsodation halls, there must be taken c are that the needs and the requirements of those students are also met (Bevis, 2007).

Annual Fees Structure

It is one more vital element which is required to be concerned about at the time of developing an accommodation hall for the students. The annual fees of the rooms in the accommodation hall which will be offered to the students must be affordable and minimum so that more number of students can afford them and can live there. Few of the students can also be offered free of cost accommodation facilities, the one who achieved scholarships as well as students with high percentage can get some annual concession so that if they are not able to afford the services they can avail it by such manner (hea, 2015).

Recommendations about how the rooms should be arranged

Following are the recommendations which can help the University for having more arranged and improved designing of the rooms so that the students can get a more relaxing and comfortable living environment:

Separate for disable people

It is recommended that the university must arranged separate kind of rooms for the disable individuals which means that there must be more appropriate and improved facilities in the rooms so that they can manage their work easily (Gordon and Keiser, 2000).

Facilities inside room

Another recommendation is that the restrooms must be inside the room so that the students do no face any kind of difficulty in managing their time. There must also be offered separate cupboards with sufficient space where the students can place their stuff. There is also a need of study table in the rooms so that it can be comfortable for the students to work on their laptops and study in meanwhile (Milne, 2006).

Facilities outside rooms

There must be offered facilities which will be common such as 24 hours fresh water a common restroom, activity area where the students can relax and have a soothing time.

Bed space

It is also recommended that there must be adequate bed space. The rooms must be arranged in such a manner that the students do not have insufficiency of space. There must a large number of bed spaces so that maximum number of the students can accommodate themselves without any difficulty (Hea, 2015).

Adequate ventilation

It is recommended that the rooms must not be suffocated. Because of less space and more number of rooms, there takes place ventilation issues. Thus, it is recommended that there must be proper cross-ventilation in all the rooms so that it can give a suitable living environment to the students (Price, et al., 2003).
