The word Trinity is an amalgamation of two words indicating three and unity. The doctrine of trinity is mostly considered as the foundational to the Christian faith. It is decisive for appropriately understanding what God is like as well as how he relates to us and how we should relate to him. However, it also gives rise to several difficult questions. The first question deals with how can God be both one and three. According to the doctrine of Trinity, there is one God who exists everlastingly in the form of three divergent individuals that includes the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. In other words, God is one in soul and three in person. With the help of this meaning, three essential truths are expressed. The first truth is that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are separate individuals. The second truth is that each individual is completely God.[3]

 The third truth is there is only one God. The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are considered as separate individuals as the Father sent the Son into the world and as a result, he cannot be the same individual as the Son. On the other hand, after the Son goes back to the Father, they sent the Holy Spirit into the world. As a result, the Holy Spirit must be discrete from the Father and the Son. The Father is viewed as talking from Heaven and the Spirit is sliding from Heaven in the shape of dove as Jesus comes out of the water. It is confirmed that Jesus is God and at the similar time, he was with God thus representing that Jesus is a separate Person from God the Father. The personhood of every member of the Trinity indicates that each Person has a separate center of awareness. According to the Doctrine of Trinity, the three separate members are not considered inferior to each other and they are all considered indistinguishable in attributes. The doctrine of the Trinity does not separate God into three parts. [4]

The second question deals with the fact that whether Trinity is contradictory. The law of non-contradiction requires to be violated in order for something to be contradictory. According to this law, A cannot be both A as well as non-A at the similar time as well as in the similar relationship. Similarly, according to the concept of Trinity it is not a contradiction for God to be both three and one since he is not three and one in the similar way. He is three in a diverse way than he is one. As a result, it is very imperative to acknowledge that God is one as well as three at the similar time, but not in the similar way. God is one in soul and three in Person. In view to Trinity, the term ‘Person’ is used in a diverse manner as compared to everyday life. There are several images that have been provided to help understand more about Trinity. Though the images are considered to be helpful however; they are not considered to be perfect. The dialogue “I am one person, but I am a student, son, and brother. This explains how God can be both one and three” should be ignored as it reflects a deviation called modalism. This line mostly indicates that God is one individual who performs three diverse roles. However, it is not true. The truth is God is one soul in three individuals and not simply three roles. [5]

Contrary to this, according to the early church the Doctrine of Trinity was defined as the way to think of three people. As individuals they are similar, however if anyone asks that who they are, it was found that individually they were completely diverse. They share the similar human nature and they also have following attributes that include temporal, physical as well as rational. However, according to the early church the attributes that God posses mostly include indescribable, unbelievable, unseen, and incomprehensible, ever existing, and everlastingly the same. Whenever the early church ask who is God they find Trinity (Father, Son and Holy Spirit). It has been identified that whenever anyone ask about a human, his or her common attributes are mostly identified. However; when it is asked who they are the differences of their  personalities are identified. In the exposure of God to the early church through the Scripture, the early church views God in three diverse individuals. [6]

The other ways by which the early church attempted to describe the unexplainable are as follows: the sun and its emission of light; the root, stem and fruit of a tree are diverse parts of one object called a tree.  A spring of water, the fountain, and the waterway that nourishes it; three candles blazing at the same time giving off a solitary light; fire and the warmness and light that effect. The closeness to God is mostly identified with the help of Holy Trinity. It has been identified that every individual of the Trinity acknowledges the similar truth as well as exercises the similar love. They consider that love of each individual is the Love of all. The doctrine of Trinity is considered as the model of perfect love.  The early church is mostly distinguished by three marks. The first mark deals with the separation from the world and the second mark deals with categorical love as well as innocent obedience to the teachings of Jesus Christ.[7]

The separation from the world deals with the fact that no one can serve two masters at the similar time. According to early church, the first Christian resided under a completely diverse set of principles as well as values as compared to the rest of the humankind. The first Christian rejected the entertainment as well as the honors of the world. As the early church did not consider earth as their home, they could say without reservation “to live is Christ and to die is gain”. However, the second-generation Christian exhorted the people attending worship. The early church mainly described the lifestyle that they did not generally practice. [8]

The doctrine of Trinity was mostly espoused by the Cappadocia Fathers who considered that God is one entity in Himself and three entities to Himself.  It is commonly understood to be history related to the Early Church rotated around debates that are concerned with the Person of Jesus Christ as well as his association to the Father and doctrine that is concerned with the Holy Spirit. An explicit doctrine of the Trinity was emerged in Christendom during the time of Cappadocia Fathers and Augustine. It can be concluded that the Trinity is the most important as God is important. It is important to honor God to completely acknowledge what God id like. It has been concluded that whenever the early church ask who is God they find Trinity (Father, Son and Holy Spirit). It has been identified that whenever anyone ask about a human, his or her common attributes are mostly identified. It has been concluded that the greatest thinkers of the early church describes Trinity as similar to the three parts of an individual that includes mind, spirit and will. Despite being three distinct aspects, the individuals are considered as undividable as they jointly constitute one unified individual. It has also been identified that the closeness to God is mostly identified with the help of Holy Trinity. It has been identified that every individual of the Trinity acknowledges the similar truth as well as exercises the similar love.

Short Application Section

The Trinity is unquestionably one of the most mysterious Doctrines of the Christian. The Doctrine of Trinity provided the fountain of heavenly love. With the help of this, the individuals are able to receive the support in the Scriptures as an answer to their prayers. The love of Father is considered as the source of all and as a result, he is to be served as the object of all. The Father is considered as the One to whom the individuals respond with love, prayers worship as well as high regard. The Son and the Holy Spirit is also worshipped as they also give glory to the Father as well as share in the glory. The mediation of the Son is also regarded as a favor with God. It is regarded that Jesus helps to bring the words of Father into the individuals. As a result, his role within the Trinity is responded by making the use of Scriptures as the standard for the trust and life of the individuals. It is also expected that the Spirit will instruct the decision of the individuals through the word. However, it does not indicate that the Spirit will lead to new importance from the Bible that is tailored to the question of the individuals. The individuals also trust the Spirit as it is expected to guide the Christian as a community. The Spirit is also authorized to serve the individuals as witnesses. The recurrent presence of the Spirit is responded  by welcoming his certainty. The doctrine of Trinity is as a result, considered to be perplexed as well as crucial, indispensable and requisite, that provides a healthy Christian view of God. However, the problem is that most of the Christian have a little knowledge about the doctrine of Trinity. The result is to worship the triune God.

Miller describes that the scholars in the past suggested that the Doctrine of Trinity might provide as a constructive model for a characteristically Christian approach to ecology. It has been found that Christian might relate to the natural surroundings in a way equivalent to the relationships to Trinity. This approach has obvious resemblances to other theologian that attempts to make use of the doctrine of Trinity as a model for the correct configuration of the Church as well as of human societies. Miller mostly commends such thinkers for their persistence on the weight of this prehistoric doctrine for Christian theology and their endeavor to make it pertinent to contemporary debates. It is stated that there are two causes for granting the knowledge of Trinity. Firstly, it was requisite for the idea of creation and secondly it was required to provide the right thought to the individuals that are mainly concerned with the salvation of the human race. It is mainly accomplished by the Incarnate Son as well as by the gift of the Holy Spirit. In this way, the doctrine of Trinity is acknowledged to be most relevant for the relationship between individuals and God rather than for human interfaces with each other as well as the natural surroundings.
