Evn301 Events Policy & Strategy: Assessment Answer

The policy was set up by the local government of Waverley in order to provide a well-defined framework for any temporal events that is going to undertake within its demographic boundaries. This applies especially when the events actually take place on the local area public space that is the land and buildings. In this policy all the requirements are clearly enlisted and the demands and standards that have to be met together with the consequences or repercussions that will be faced if they are violated. It is not a mandatory that the local council issues you a certificate of approval to continue with the intended business of interest, they can also deny one the approval when there are a lot of hiccups in your event to be set up (Bussell, 2018).

Events such as the Bonsai Group Annual Show that takes place in Waverley would definitely need the approval certificate to carry out their respective activities. Usually the group is concerned with the environment where more than 100 trees are on display for others to purchase and some lessons are taught especially on children on how to protect the environment (Pers. Exp. 01). The council has to approve their stay in the location of their choice. All the terms have to be met and an agreement reached by both parties when it comes to holding the annual show. Terms may even include the show holders being given few security officers to enhance security as the event progresses.

The Bonsai Group Show would be greatly beneficial to the community in the nearby surrounding, since it is all about trees, the different species that are there and best places to be planted. The trees are show cased and dozens of sales are made to those in attendance. This cultivates the spirit of protecting the environment, for instance, it encourages the community to plant more trees which have great benefits. Children that will be in attendance, in which the entrance is usually free for those under the age of 16, will have an opportunity to learn more about trees and their respective purposes and consequences in their absence (Wensor, 2018). Thus they will grow with the attitude and motive of taking good care of them for the future generations. The negative impact of the event to the community is that it is a foreign company and the money they collect from the event does not necessarily benefit much to the community. Despite this fact, the positive impacts it has after their show, greatly outweighs its negativity which somehow becomes negligible. The local government has established a policy where they will earn some revenue from the show that will in turn be used to help the community maybe in development.

The council officers would greatly assist if they reduce the procedures that have to be undertaken for approval especially when it comes to no-to-profits events, for example charitable events (Milton, 2018). They are mainly set up to raise funds for the needy in the community or those with acute health conditions. Also more officers that ensure the security of those who will be attending should be increased. This is due to the raise in number of the complaints received by the members, claiming they are being mugged of the cash they have and their cell phones. If this is not addressed event organizers will shy away from the region.
