Poem Analysis Of I Feel Assessment Answer

The poem Another Birth written by Forough Farrokhzad is a poem I feel, of self-revelation which according to me, is filled with lyrical beauty and artistic allusion that places the poem on a higher pedestal, on a more universal level.  When I was reading the poem, my mindscape was filled with beautiful juxtaposition of images that she had used in the poem to convey a feeling of lamentation and melancholy. In the poem, she uses literary devices like similes, and euphemisms to make the readers participate in her journey of a daily life, where she has taken recourse to a number of delusions to lead a life. In the poem the “I” is the person who is retrospection on her memories and long lost lover who once courted her – “I love your hands”. The poet wants to bloom in the garden of her memories and thrive in the nourishment of it. The twinned red cherry with which she intends to adorn herself can be a product of her lush garden of memories is alive inside her. Her longing for the past is again evident in the lines “…alleyway which my heart….” Which I have construed as a desperate attempt on her part to escape to the past and rescue herself from becoming an anguished individual trying to cling onto affection and music as a means to barely survive. She gains the readers access to the darkest recesses of her mind populated with memories of what she one held dear to heart.

What I like from the poem is her silent wailing for her lover and unrequited desire for affection that makes her allude life to the coming home of children from school, home being a safe abode, of love warmth and comfort.  The several imageries that she draws in order to analyze life gives birth to a mood of contemplation and brooding that I think compels the reader to plunge into the depths of it the poet’s vague  sense of loneliness perpetuated by reminiscences and melancholy with which she introspects and gauges the indiscernible emptiness where her existence has become as “dark verse of Scripture”, this syllogism brings to the mind a feeling of repetition and nothingness that is associated with the meaningless chanting of mantras from the scriptures. This feeling pervaded my mind a trance like atmosphere that the poem strives to create effectively with resonating words and meters.
