Training Need Analysis

Chapter three of the textbook describes the analysis stage of ADDIE. In this step, a training needs analysis is required.  Based on the training needs analysis, describe a training course that could be used for your current job position.

In our weekly lecture, Instructor Johnson (2016), stated, “The original goal of the ADDIE model was to improve efficiency and efficacy of training by adapting the instruction to specific jobs, thus ensuring that training courses were specific to the job rather than generalized training with unnecessary extraneous information”. Our text stated, “The detailed, systematic analysis is undertaken in ADDIE is known as a needs assessment.  As the name implies, it identifies what is needed to narrow a performance gap”, (Kopp, 2014). Based on the training needs analysis performance discrepancies have demonstrated a need for continued training for the bartenders and stewards in the United Club.  The needs analysis was accomplished by employing occupational, tasks, and job analyses.  A list of tasks for each position has been made and compared to the current skills, knowledge, and aptitudes of the stewards and bartenders.  With all of the new changes in the club and all of the new hires.  The current skills, knowledge, and aptitudes show a need for training.  The training needs analysis (TNA) shows that a list of job requirements needs to be specified.  The target audience description (TAD) are the individuals (stewards & bartenders) that are completing the given tasks within each position.

How will the training address the needs of the employees?

As our instructor highlighted in this week’s lecture on training needs analysis, “These analyses can be utilized to determine the behaviors, conditions, and standards necessary for job performance”, (Johnson, 2016).  After examining the training needs analysis, a training course that Sodexo, within the United Airlines Private Club could benefit from would be an individual assessment test to evaluate the level of training necessary.  (Kopp, 2014).  This training would enable the employees to increase their efficiency and efficacy within the club.  A training needs analysis could not come at a better time than during our transition in all clubs across the U.S.
